Ashley’s father, James McBryde, was a prominent lawyer and politician. He served as a United States Senator from Virginia and as the 18th Governor of Virginia. Ashley’s mother, Anne Holbert McBryde, was also a highly successful woman. She was the founder of what is now known as The Women’s Museum in Richmond, Virginia.
