Who is Phantom Assassin?
The Dota universe has different organizations specializing in specific activities, including the Jasper Circle, the Court of Ristul, and the Veiled Sisters. The latter is a secretive order that practices ritual murders. It is assumed that all the participants are female, and there is the revered Veiled Oracle at the top of the organization, who speaks the names of those slated to die.
Although rare, the Oracle speaks the name of the members of the Sisterhood for assassination. Unable to tolerate the false Oracle’s prophecies, some members had left the organization, going into exile. Every day they dreamed of how to kill the Veiled Oracle that corrupted their once holy faith.
And under these conditions, Asan grew up and finally came out of the shadows. The lore was trained in the ways of the Veiled Sisters but imprinted his unique spin on the fighting style. This is recalled in his design and animations, which are a complete transformation of the original model. Below are a showcase of the new model, assets, and effects.
Transformation of the Model: Animations & Effects
From the initial reveal, it is worth noting that the decision to make Asan a male is a serious step. However, if you think that Dota 2’s old Phantom Assassin has just changed gender, you are mistaken. The Exile Unveiled Hero Persona Model features a completely new character and a total model overhaul. At the moment, the personality on Phantom Assassin is a separate slot for the hero, so you can’t wear ordinary rare items, immortals, or even arcana on it.
The lore will get a different model, icons and ability effects, replicas, as well as other game elements that will differ from the standard ones. Among the Phantom Assassin’s changes are the following:
- Skill animations. Featured all-new animations, including Fan of Knives from Aghanim’s Shard.
- Voice lines. Added over 900 exclusive lines to allow Asan’s voice to be heard.
- Hero assets. Completely redrawn abilities, including a new Hero Portrait and Topbar Portrait image, Minimap icon, and Ability Icons.
- Ability effects. Received all-new effects, including Stifling Dagger, Phantom Strike, Blur, Fan of Knives, and Coup de Grace.
How to Unlock the Persona?
Once reviewed this all-new transformation, many players are wondering how to unlock the Phantom Assassin Persona. In fact, this reward will be available for Dota Battle Pass owners who upgrade their profile to the 296th tier. As for BP points, players can obtain them organically by playing matches, such as Cavern Crawl or competing in Queekly Quests. Otherwise, all BP owners can directly buy points using real money in the Dota 2 store.
New Content to Be Arrived
The personality of Exile Unveiled was announced on September 1 and released on Sep 16 during the first part of the Battle Pass. It took Valve 15 days to deliver one of the most prestigious rewards to unlock before the International 2022.
Though most of the new content arrived with the first part, there’s still a lot scheduled to arrive with part two, like the iconic Diretide event. In addition, the Razor Arcana and the Crystal Maiden Persona will become available starting November 3. Therefore, with the BP featuring two parts this year, Dota 2’s fans will still have content to unlock after The International itself.
