20 days total curfew imposed by Kuwait from May 10th, to curb Corona virus COVID-19

The public sectors will be working remotely during the curfew. All the activities, excluding vital ones of private sectors will stand as suspended, as per the issued statement. All banks will be closed but will continue to provide services electronically to their customers.

Kuwait: Kuwait is going to enact a total curfew from 4.00PM local time, (1300 hrs GMT) on Sunday, May 10th, 2020 till May 30th. It will be done to help to curb the spread of new corona virus. The cabinet of Kuwait issued this statement on Friday itself.

The public sector industries will work remotely during the curfew. The activities in the private sectors, excluding the vital ones will stand as suspended. All banks will remain closed, but their customers can have the service electronically. It said in the statement issued by Kuwait cabinet.

Essential services sectors, such as, health, security, electricity, oil and municipal services, as well as all the private sector companies providing vital services, such as maintenance, will remain exempted from the curfew. It was said by the Interior Minister, Anas al Saleh, in a televise news conference later on Friday.

Kuwait expanded a nation-wide curfew to 16 hours a day on April 20 from 4 PM to 8AM. It also extended a suspension of work In the public sector, which included government ministries until May 2nd.

“Anything that serves the citizens and expatriates at their homes and meets their needs will have all the possibilities to continue their operations,” said Kuwait`s minister of trade and industry, Khaled Al-Rawdan.

He further added “ After the curfew we hope there will be a gradual come back.”

Cooperative and grocery stores will remain open during the curfew. People have to book an appointment in advance and one person from each family will be allowed out for doing the shopping.

People have to wear protective masks. They can go out for walks between 4.30 PM to 6.30 PM. They cannot use any vehicles.

In addition, printed news papers will remain suspended. Home deliveries will be allowed only for essential food and pharmaceutical supplies.

This Gulf state announced 641 new corona cases on Friday. It marked the day with three corona virus deaths. The total number of Corona virus cases now scores up to 7,208 with 47 deaths.

The number of Corona virus cases have risen steadily in the six Gulf Arab states to 86,000. It has witnessed 486 deaths by corona virus infections. All these states adopted measures for containment, that included curfew impositions and grounding of passenger flights. It also closed most of the public venues.

The corona virus infected cases in Saudi Arabia exceeded the number of 35,000 on Friday.
