Irrfan Khan, Bollywood icon, dies at 53

Bollywood star Irrfan Khan, known worldwide for his roles in “Existence Of Pi” and “Slumdog Uniform,” died Wednesday, his representatives confirmed. He was 53.

“It’s saddening this day, we must bring forward this news of him dying,” read an announcement from Khan’s PR agency, Hardly Anonymous Communications. “Irrfan would be a strong soul, somebody that fought against up until the very finish and try to inspired everybody who came near to him.”

Other prominent politicians, like Home Minister Amit Shah and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, also shared their condolences online.

“The charisma you introduced to all you did was pure magic,” tweeted Indian actor and model Priyanka Chopra Johnson.

Award-winning filmmaker Shoojit Sircar also published a tribute on Twitter, writing, “You fought against and fought against and fought against. I will be pleased.. we shall meet again.”

Amitabh Bachchan, another Bollywood icon, stated inside a tweet that Khan’s dying produced “an enormous vacuum.”

“An amazing talent, a gracious friend, an abundant contributor to everything about Cinema .. left us too early,” Bachchan tweeted.
