His NFL Career
Jon Embree’s NFL career spanned over two decades, both as a player and a coach. After playing college football at Eastern Illinois University, Embree was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round of the 1988 draft. He played for the Colts for four seasons before spending time with the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles. In 2002, he became head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he led them to their first ever playoff appearance. In 2008, Embree moved to the Washington Redskins and stayed there until his retirement in 2013. During his career, Embree won three division titles (with Jacksonville in 2002 and 2003, and Washington in 2007), two conference championships (Washington in 2007 and 2010), and one Super Bowl championship (Washington in 2005). In total, he amassed a record of 192-154 (.549). After retiring from coaching, Embree began working as an analyst for ESPN.
