Kyler Murray was born on July 24, 1995 in Austin, Texas. He is the son of former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Craig Murray and actress and singer Kimberly Williams-Murray. Kyler played football for Highland High School in Austin before signing with Oklahoma as a three-star recruit in 2013. He redshirted his first season at Oklahoma and then became the starting quarterback as a freshman in 2015. Murray led the Sooners to an undefeated season and a national championship in his sophomore year, but decided to enter the 2017 NFL draft after being selected as the first overall pick by the Oakland Raiders. Murray has since been traded to Seattle Seahawks, where he started all 16 games for them during the 2018 season. He was released by Seattle in August 2019.

After his parents’ divorce, Kyler lived with his father in Norman, Oklahoma; he later moved to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania with his mother.
At Norman High School, Murray led his team to consecutive state championships as a junior and senior while completing over 600 passes for 7,748 yards with 81 touchdowns and just nine interceptions. As a senior in 2016, he became only the fifth player in NCAA Division I history to pass for over 4,000 yards in consecutive seasons.
