Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Williams was just a normal high school student when he decided to try out for the college football team at tiny Hinds Community College in Jackson, Mississippi. He had no illusions about his chances of making the team, but he gave it his all nonetheless. After his sophomore year, he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. In four seasons with Baltimore, he started 33 games and recorded 157 tackles, one sack, and two interceptions. He was traded to the St. Louis Rams in 2013 and then to the Seattle Seahawks in 2015. In 2017, Williams signed with the Detroit Lions. He retired following the 2018 season.
